The Tax Genie

(apologies to the older TV show, whose idea I borrowed for this piece)

One day a genie appeared to a man. The genie handed the man a magic box with a button on top. "This is for you," said the genie, "if you want wealth all you have to do is press the button on the top of the box and all the worldly possession of someone rich, someone you don't know, and who you've never met, will be taken away from them and given to you."

The man took the box and the genie disappeared. The man looked around at his modest middle class house, and decided, what the heck. So he pushed the button.

Immediately the doorbell rang, and he was presented with a check for 150 million dollars.

The next week was very eventful for the man, as he decided how to spend all the money. During his rush of shopping, the genie appeared.

"I need the box back," said the genie.

"Why?" asked the man as he passed the box back to the genie.

Turning to leave the genie replied to the man, "It's someone else's turn to use it."

"Oh, ok, so who are you giving it to this time?"

"Someone you don't know, and who you've never met." answered the genie with a wicked laugh as he vanished in a cloud of sulfur.
