Kerry campaign clutching frantically at any tactic in desparation

Kerry Says Draft May Return Under Bush

By MARY DALRYMPLE, Associated Press Writer

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites), citing the war in Iraq (news - web sites) and other trouble spots in the world, raised the possibility Wednesday that a military draft could be reinstated if voters re-elect President Bush (news - web sites).

Kerry said he would not bring back the draft and questioned how fairly it was administered in the past.

Usually it's an eleventh-hour mass phone calling campaign to senior citizens claiming the GOP candidate will end Social Security. This is a new tactic. It will be interesting if after all of the Liberal campaigners (MTV-rock the vote, etc.) have been pestering college students to get involved, if Joe College Student responded the way the Dims wanted -- voting, but not thinking. (Note that the "get out the vote" campaigns the Dims push never, ever say anything about actually finding out what any candidate stands for, just urging them to vote)

Is it me or do the Dims seem especially desperate this election years?
