Newdow up to his same old stupidity

From Traditional Values Coalition:

Atheist activist Michael Newdow has filed a request for an injunction from the U.S. District Court to bar "engaging in Christian religious acts" related to President Bush’s inauguration.

"This is the day we have been warning America would come," said Rev. Louis P. Sheldon, chairman of the Traditional Values Coalition. The coalition and other leading Christian organizations are sponsoring Christian Inaugural Eve Gala to celebrate the inauguration.

"It is appalling that Christians are being singled out by Mr. Newdow for this sort of harassment," said Rev. Sheldon. "If any other religious group was being targeted for demotion to second-class citizenship, the ACLU and the liberal lobby would be shrieking. Today, they watch silently as a court considers taking another step towards barring the free and public exercise of religious beliefs.

"Mr. Newdow should be ashamed for seeking this injunction against his fellow citizens. We, as Americans, need to awaken and deal with these threats to religious liberty, cynically disguised as 'civil liberties' defense."

Mr. Newdow gained national prominence for his lawsuit to remove the words "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance.
