February the Twenty-seventh

This day in history:

2/27/1908 - Star #46 was added to US flag for Oklahoma

Yeah, for Oklahoma!!

2/27/1919 - American Association for the Hard of Hearing formed (New York NY)

Come again?

2/27/1922 - Supreme Court unanimously upheld 19th amend woman's right to vote

And candidates suddenly got better looking. Hmmm.

2/27/1950 - General Chiang Kai-shek elected President of Nationalist China

Bad move. Sun Yat Tsen allowed it because he was afraid Chiang Kai-shek would start another rebellion -- against him. Sun Yat Tsen the people liked. Kai-shek was too militaristic -- and Mao Tse tung was hiding with his rebels waiting for the right moment to boot them both out.

2/27/1951 - 22nd amendment to the Constitution is ratified, limiting President to 2 terms in office

Arnold take note.

2/27/1963 - Mickey Mantle of New York Yankees sign a baseball contract worth $100,000

Seems like such small potatoes compared to today's salaries, doesn't it.

2/27/1992 - Tiger Woods, 16, becomes youngest PGA golfer in 35 years

At 16! I'd forgotten that.
