Ignore the obvious --blame homeschooling

From KGUN 9 NEWS in Arizona (where they apparently think every sentence deserves its own paragraph):

A 14-year-old girl is in CPS custody tonight.

Tucson Police say her father and his live-in girlfriend kept the child captive for a year and three months.

Police arrested the father, 35 year old Rene Valenzuela and his live in girlfriend 32 year old Elizabeth Arguello.

Both are in the Pima County Jail facing child abuse charges.

Officers say Valenzuela and Arguello had kept the girl locked inside a small bedroom since November of 2003.

And in a later story from the same source:

Home schooling is very popular in Arizona.  All it takes is filling out a simple affidavit.  With no accountability and irresponsible parents, it's easy to see how children can get "lost."

"The home schooling aspect is really one of the many aspects i [sic] think we need to go back.....how could this happen in our town?  how could this happen in our state?" says Governor Janet Napolitano.

Considering that government schooled kids are much, much more likely to be abused at home or at school, one wonders why Governor Napolitano has such little concern for them. Does she not care?

KOLD in Tucson is reporting that the CPS had been notified 5 times about suspected abuse, but failed to thoroughly investigate. Even after numerous attempts by the girl's extended family to intervene -- knee-jerk, anti-homeschool people like the Arizona governor (and apparently the grammatically impaired KGUN) ignore the incompetent CPS and blame homeschooling.
