Rice '08?

From WorldNetDaily:

Vice President Dick Cheney likely will step down next year due to health reasons and be replaced by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, according to a report by geopolitical expert Jack Wheeler.

They quote an article of Dr. Jack Wheeler's site as the source.

I think Rice would make an excellent president some day, but I'm not sure she as yet has the experience and resume for it. She'd certainly give Hillary a challenge, and would more than likely win, but the idea is to elect a two term candidate. Vice-Presidents generally do not do as well in their re-election bids. Most of the past, two-term presidents were previous governors.

Rice is sharp, I'll give her that, and she seems to handle herself very well with the press. She has W's personable ness but with more charisma. The various attacks made during her confirmation hearing were met with outrage, mostly because they were so hollow. Superficially, she's very electable, but realistically the question remains: is she functional, in other words -- would she do well enough in her first term to convince the voters she needs a second term. I think the potential is definitely there,  but were she to have about 5 to 10 more years of experience, especially as a state governor, I'd feel a lot more confident about her long term chances.
