Schooling here and there

Toy stores throughout the Kansas City area are now carrying the hot new game “Beat the Experts” designed by Elise Veach of nearby Lenexa, Kansas. Elise won a $10,000 savings bond in the National Young Game Inventors Contest sponsored by San Francisco based University Games. Elsie, by the way is homeschooled.

Oh, and did I mention that she was 6 when she invented the game?

. . . meanwhile . . .

From the Las Vegas Sun:

Two 13-year-old girls who were initially charged with attempted murder for making more than a dozen classmates sick by serving them a glue-laced cornbread cake were sentenced to probation Wednesday.

They were found guilty of disrupting a public school and were given nine and 12 months on probation. Juvenile Judge Juanita Stedman also ordered them to write essays on what they learned.

Oooo, essays! [shudder]
