Jeb Bush hero of who?

The predictably myopic and leftist New York Times predicts that Jeb Bush's actions will endear him to the Religious Right.

Gov. Jeb Bush's last-minute intervention in the case of Terri Schiavo, even after the president had ended his own effort to keep her alive, may have so far failed in a legal sense, but it has cemented the religious and social conservative credentials of a man whose political pedigree is huge and whose political future remains a subject of intense speculation.

But Bush's refusal to perform the duties of his office, which have clearly been pointed out as legal and necessary are what most Conservative Christians see. Handed the opportunity to not only save a woman's life but also defy the unconstitutional abuse of judicial powers by a maniacal state judge, the emasculated Jeb Bush hides behind the legal fiction that he is powerless to act. If Terri is allowed to be murdered, then Bush can kiss any hope of a political career goodbye. Terri Schiavo will be Jeb Bush's Mary Jo Kopechne.
