The biased press on Terri Schiavo

From the Ass. Press via the Tallahassee Democrat: (Note that a LOCAL paper uses a national press service. They are local for crying out load and don't care enough to even send their own people out to do the story!) [My comments are in red]

The brain-damaged [while technically accurate, journalistically biased. It leaves a very false impression of her state] woman's parents told the emotional [an attempt to belittle the crowd's legitimacy] crowd that their daughter still jokes with them and is trying to learn to say "I love you." And religious [not all the groups were religious, but by portraying them as such the Ass. Press is attempting to further belittle the message the groups want to convey. Pro-slavery advocates used the same gimmick 150 years ago] groups at the rally argued the removal of the feeding tube would be cruel.

"Terri may be disabled, but her life is of great worth to God," James Dobson, founder of the Christian group Focus on the Family, said on a recorded message that was played to the crowd.

Doctors [extremely misleading. A “team” of doctors hired by Michael Schiavo. One of the “team”, Dr. Victor Gambone claims he sees her 3 times a year, but spends less than 10 minutes each visit. Dr. Melvin Greer brags that a doctor doesn't need to even see a patient to diagnose her, but still spent a total of 45 minutes with Terri before making his diagnosis.  Dr. Ronald Cranford, also appointed by Schiavo and who has publicly labeled himself “Dr. Death”, spent less than 45 minutes examining and interacting with Terri.  Dr. Peter Bambakidis, appointed by Judge Greer, spent approximately 30 minutes with Terri. But Bambakidis has ties with death attorney George Felos which he refuses to comment on. But other doctors, including many neurologists disagree.] say Terri Schiavo is in a persistent vegetative state - and that any movements or sounds she makes are coincidental and not a result of consciousness. [anyone halfway interested in the case can view video which clearly shows such a diagnosis is false, outrageously false] Her husband [note the complete absence of any reference to his fiancé who he lives with and has two children with.], Michael Schiavo, contends his wife would not want to be kept alive artificially.

Bob and Mary Schindler doubt [Doubt?!? Their decades long battle to save their daughter's life is referred to as “doubt”?!?] their daughter had end-of-life wishes and have fought their son-in-law in court for nearly seven years. They also dispute [along with 33 medical professionals, which includes 6 neurologists. The Ass. Press conveniently left that out as well] that she is in a vegetative state, saying she laughs, cries, interacts with them and tries to speak.

This is typical for the way the MSM has treated this case. Why do they want her dead? I guess she annoys them, too. “Ooo, she makes me uncomfortable, kill her so I don't have to look at her anymore.”
