Frist's Compromise (heh, heh, heh)

Apparently Frist offered a compromise to Democrats that from what I can tell consisted of the Democrats shutting up and going away. Works for me. (Can you tell I've been watching too many Hunter re-runs on TV-Land?) Trying to be equally cute, and failing miserably, Democrat whiner Harry Reid responded by calling it a “a big wet kiss to the far right”. (That evening course at the Dan Rather School for Bad Clichés has really paid off, Harry)

Could this be symptoms of a solidifying spine on the part of Republicans in Congress? Boy, I hope so.

As I indicated on http://donsingleton.blogspot.com/2005/04/compromise-on-judges.html Frist knew that the Dems would never take him up on his offer. But the offer should look to wavering Republicans like he went the last mile trying to work things out, and that there was no alternative to the Constitutional/Nuclear option, and therefore we need to go ahead with that approach, which does not include the 100 hours of debate, and which does not prevent a Republican Senate from not even releasing Liberal Judges to the floor, should there ever be another Democratic President
