Book Tag

Apparently there's some sort of book tag type thingy going around that works something like a chain letter, but without all the hokey promises of good luck and fortune. I hate chain letters, but since this seems in good spirit, a topic I enjoy and sans the superstition, I've decided to play along.

1. Total amount of books I have owned:

I currently have about 600 dead-tree edition books. I would have absolutely no idea how many I've owned all together. I like picking up books at flea markets, thrift stores and garage sales. Over the years I've sold a few, given away a few and thrown a few away from wear and tear.

I also have an online library at ByTheFireplace.com with 1,717 books and 1,193 short stories. I don't know if that counts.

2. Last book I bought:

That would be Wild at Heart by John Eldredge. I read it in about three hours the next Saturday morning after it arrived from Amazon.com. It's an interesting book, and one of my Sunday School classes went through the videotapes that the author made to accompany the book. I would recommend it highly to any mother who wants to better understand her husband and sons, although it's intended for men to better understand themselves.

3. Last book I read:

That would be Escaping the Matrix by Gregory Boyd and Al Larson, which I reviewed for Mind&Mediahere. Other reviews can be read here. I was surprised that while I thought my review leaned a bit to the critical side, other reviews were extremely critical, and also well researched. I'm glad because I worried that too many of the reviewers might sound more promotional than truly reviewing.

4. Books That Mean A lot To Me:

Well of course the Bible. I read it every day. I also have several books that when I see a copy somewhere, I buy, so I can give it away. They would be The Hiding Place, The Ugly American and The Rules. I know it may sound funny me thinking The Rules is such a great book, but I found it to be an excellent discussion of many things women simply don't get about relationships.

5. Tag 5 People and have them do this on their blog:

I guess 5 is so that if some ignore it, there's still a chance that it still might be passed on:

Bryan at The Narrow, Chad at In The Bullpen, Don Singleton, Eric at Myopic Zeal and (just for the heck of it), Michelle Malkin
