So that was an InstaLanch?

I had my first InstaLanch™ yesterday (the traffic spike that comes from being mentioned on Glenn Reynold's Instapundit). I have to say, though, I am somewhat underwhelmed. Just over 1,200 for the day is nowhere near what I was expecting an InstaLanch™ to produce. Last year James Lileks mentioned one of my web sites, and the resulting traffic spike lasted at least three days and had over 4000 unique visitors the first day and over a 1000 the next. (My typical traffic back then was even more paltry than it is now).

Admittedly the topic was one of interest only to people buying or selling BlogAds, but still...

What's even more interesting is that my own stats (independent of sitemeter), say that Glenn only led 502 visitors to my site. No small sum, but as an InstaLanch™?!? Several other bloggers mentioned the new BlogAds comparison (47 from Balloon-Juice, 45 from the Conservative Grapevine). The Poor Man Cafe linked to my piece on Cindy Sheehan (108 visits) and I got lots of trackbacks (as usual) from Riehl Word View, Captain's Quarters and Wizbang.

I'm glad Glenn mentioned me (especially since I criticized him in a previous post) and 502 visitors is still 502 visitors, which I'm very grateful for anytime, but I'd say an InstaLanch™ isn't what I expected it to be.

Now, a MalkinLanch™, I wonder what that would be like...
