Convenience store employee sells soft drink filled with urine

From WKMG in Florida...

Publix officials confirmed to Local 6 News that an employee urinated in a Mountain Dew bottle and put it on the store shelves at the Publix-owned Pix convenience store located off Howland in Deland, Fla.

Publix Super Markets spokesman Dwaine Stevens said the accused employee was suspended after the company learned of the incident this week. An internal investigation is being completed.

Lab tests done by Publix on the contaminated Mountain Dew confirmed the soda contained urine, Stevens said. The supermarket giant owns the Pix chain....

The victim, a foreman with a Daytona Beach construction company, became suspicious of the drink after he chugged the beverage last week, his attorney, Daniel Newlin, said

"He vomited three or four times afterward," said Newlin, who did not release his client's name in order to protect the man's privacy.

Newlin said that upon the advice of an infectious-disease doctor, the victim was being tested for diseases such as gonorrhea and hepatitis C.

[Shudder] eeeuuoooo...blecch.

I'll stick to cans from now on. You can't get stuff in those without the customer knowing. Come to think of it, the bottles have a safety seal on them, too, so the customer was careless for not checking. You might be asking, “So who ever checks?” When you open the bottle the seal grabs and you have to force the cap to unscrew. You can feel and hear the seal coming loose. How could you not notice that that didn't happen?

So the convenience store employee got “suspended”?!? Seems like that convenience store is really concerned about their customers' safety. Why wouldn't they fire the idiot — and why isn't he in jail?!?
