Suicide bombing in Oklahoma
From the Oklahoma Daily Online...
An OU student was identified Sunday as the person killed by a bomb during the OU-Kansas State football game Saturday night, officials said.
Joel Henry Hinrichs III, 21, was killed when a bomb exploded at about 7:30 p.m., said Salvador Hernandez, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI in Oklahoma.
Hinrichs, from Colorado Springs, Colo., was a mechanical engineering junior and a member of Triangle fraternity....
Officials Saturday night said they believe it to be a suicide, which Hinrichs’ friends and family said is shocking.
“He was a very private individual,” said his father, Joel Hinrichs Jr. “I knew he had gone through several severe bouts of depression, but I never saw this coming.”
He said his son had been going to counseling at Goddard Health Center but was having trouble finding optimism in his life.
Officials at Triangle fraternity’s national headquarters said they too are stunned.
It's a big world full of lots of people. Sometimes people think they mean nothing unless someone notices them. So they do stupid stuff like this, so at least once, a lot of people will know they exist (or did exist). What people like Joel need to hear is that the Creator of the universe cares for him so much He sent His own Son to die for him. That's a message not likely to be part of the curriculum at a state college. It pretty certain that the religion of Evolution was taught as the foundation for all of the education there, which reconfirms the nonsense that life is meaningless, and we are of no more real value than any other chemical reaction. Quite a load (pun intended) for a lonely college student trying to figure out his place in the universe.
