BlogAdSwap hits half-a-million ads shown
We passed the half-million mark sometime this morning. We're growing fast.
One thing I found odd, though. When I emailed a fellow blogger who I send stuff to occasionally, and mentioned BlogAdSwap, he said he was part of Pajamas Media, and wasn't allowed to have any other ads on his site. I was approached by PM when they first were trying to get things together and I asked them then if they would demand to be the only ads. They assured me that they didn't intend to operate that way, so I signed their initial "inquiry" thingy, and never heard from them again.
So are they really demanding exclusivity that way? That'll hurt a lot of smaller blogs who advertise via service that are either free or charge little. I've been hearing a lot of complaining about PM, and truth be told much of it sounds more like the typical griping about a group because they won't let you join, but some of it sounds like legitimate complaints, number one of which is the complaint that they are quickly becoming the very thing they claimed to want to be a haven against.
