Jewish leader trashes Christians

From the Associated Press...

Rabbi Eric Yoffie, president of the liberal Union for Reform Judaism, said "religious right" leaders believe "unless you attend my church, accept my God and study my sacred text you cannot be a moral person."

"What could be more bigoted than to claim that you have a monopoly on God?" he said during the movement's national assembly in Houston, which runs through Sunday.

The audience of 5,000 responded to the speech with enthusiastic applause.

Yoffie did not mention evangelical Christians directly, using the term "religious right" instead. In a separate interview, he said the phrase encompassed conservative activists of all faiths, including within the Jewish community.

Well, it's start out with a bold faced lie. I've never heard any of who are generally considered “Religious Right leaders” claim what this guys says. None of them demand people attend their church. But they do emphasize going to a Bible believing church, and what's wrong with that? Of they insist that people accept God, if they didn't wouldn't that pretty much make their religion meaningless? And yes they encourage people to study the Bible, but then don't Jews do that too? They don't claim someone isn't moral if they don't do those, because morality is not the point. A relationship with Jesus Christ is. No one can be saved on their own morality, and every single on of the leaders of the Religious Right say that repeatedly.

The ironic thing is that by claiming he is right and the “Religious Right Leaders” are wrong, he himself is claiming a monopoly on God, and thus calling himself a bigot. At least he's right there—he is a bigot.

"We cannot forget that when Hitler came to power in 1933, one of the first things that he did was ban gay organizations," Yoffie said. "Yes, we can disagree about gay marriage. But there is no excuse for hateful rhetoric that fuels the hellfires of anti-gay bigotry."

Well, that would right after forcing all the school teachers to teach that Jesus was nothing but a naughty Jewish boy, and the Bible was nothing but the Book of Jewish Lies. But anti-Christian bigots tend to forget things like that. While Hitler made a public show of persecuting homosexuals, in private he worked with those who held power. Which is what he did with every group, including Jews. What there's no excuse for is this idiot calling what Evangelical Christians leaders say about homosexuals “hateful” without giving any examples at all (and Fred Phelps doesn't count, he's a pseudo-christian moron).

Like all flame throwing morons, when the truth is inconvenient, make trash up.
