Saudi murderer sentenced to one-year in resort jail

From the Boston Herald...

His face stoic, a kinsman of the Saudi royal family was handcuffed this morning and sent for one year to a cushy jail on Martha’s Vineyard as part of a plea deal in a vehicular homicide case that left a Cambridge father dead.

Bader Al-Saud, 23, a former philosophy student at Suffolk University, was hurtling down Charles Street at nearly 50 mph in a luxury SUV on Oct. 29, 2002, when he plowed into Orlando Ramos, 37, killing the father and landscaper.

He pleaded guilty today to motor vehicle homicide and driving without out a license as part of a deal that angered the survivors of his victim.

”He killed someone and he gets to pick where he wants to go to jail?” said Paula Caruso, the outraged mother of Ramos’ daughter, Jennifer. ”Why? Because he has money?

”It would have been nice for him to say ’I am sorry, I did it. You don’t have a father and I got to get degrees,’ ” Caruso said after today’s court session.

As I understand it Amnesty International has been complaining about the notoriously barbaric Dukes County Jail and House of Corrections in Edgartown on Martha's Vineyard for years. It's reported that often they don't properly chill the salad forks, and inmates sometimes have to wait as long as fifteen minutes for an open tennis court.

I suggest that rather than Martha's Vineyard, dress him up as a Rabbi, and let him loose in almost any Arab nation.
