The Red Diamond?

From the Jerusalem Post...

Magen David Adom, Israel's rescue, blood supply and first-aid organization, has waited more than half a century for this: On Tuesday, the International Red Cross Movement in Geneva is due to approve the addition of a neutral "crystal" symbol, alongside the Red Cross and the Red Crescent, leading to the inclusion of MDA and other unrecognized national agencies as full-fledged members.

MDA chairman Dr. Noam Yifrach said Monday that he hopes the international organization approves the new symbol, because no organization can become a member without an official symbol. MDA, he said, has already carried out a long series of organization changes including a change in its constitution, in order to meet its requirements.

Yifrach added that with its expected membership in the international organization, MDA will receive various grants and allocations that will make possible the improvement of its rescue services in Israel. Thus Israeli residents will gain from the long-awaited step.

The formal reason for the exclusion of MDA was based on the Geneva Convention prerequisite stating that the member organizations must adopt one of the "recognized symbols" of the international movement.

The Red Star of David was not one of these, and since 1949, when the issue was first raised, MDA was unwilling to operate under the Red Cross or Red Crescent, he said. Arab and Muslim countries prevented International Red Cross recognition of the Red Star of David alongside the other two.

Okay, so why in the world didn't the Red Cross simply adopt the Red Star of David as an official symbol? Could it have been because Jew hating Moslems would have refused to be a part? Instead we'll see more and more demands that this new symbol become the main symbol since it is, supposedly, religion neutral. Yet it's the original Red Cross symbol was simple the reverse of the Swiss flag, not a religious symbol. Why are they allowing bigotry and hatred to dictate their actions?
