Liberals v. Extreme Liberals in fight over pseudo church
From WorldNetDaily...
Declaring the "true church of Jesus Christ now must prevail," a group of Episcopalians has launched a campaign calling for all clergy involved in the consecration of an actively homosexual bishop to be put on trial by the church.
The selection three years ago of Rev. V. Gene Robinson to head the Diocese of New Hampshire further deepened divisions that have been growing for more than three decades between liberals and traditionalists in the 2.2 million-member branch of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
Sounds good so far, except that I find the idea of choosing an unrepentant homosexual as a bishop to be so outrageously offensive that it begs the question of whether any of those bishops that voted for him have ever bothered to read the Bible, which then begs the question, why are they even bishops, which begs the question, who they heck put such people in as bishops? The problem seems much, much deeper than just a few bishops. But then the "other side" shows who they are...
While homosexuals are welcomed in local parishes, the group says, "there are clear Scriptural and operating prohibitions concerning ordainment of priests practicing homosexual lifestyles, and certainly bishops in that lifestyle are prohibited."
Odd. There are also clear scriptural mandates about allowing unrepentant sinners into the congregation. For example...
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. — Ephesians 5:3-7
...then there's also...
Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. — 2nd Thessalonians 3:6
So they have a problem with complaining about Bishops who engage in sin, while ignoring what the Bible says about church members who continue in sin. Seems they need to get their own theology straightened out first, but then that would have been the responsibility of the church leadership, and we already know that they're ignorant of some of the most basic Bible truths.
Blind leading the blind and they're both falling in the ditch.
