Oil and the Democrats' Shell game

From NewsMax...

Details of a renewable fuels fund have yet to be worked out. Nonetheless, it's one of the initiatives the House will take up during its first 100 hours in session in January, according to aides to Speaker-elect Nancy Pelosi. At least some of the money - revenue gained by rolling back some tax breaks - will go to a program to support research into making ethanol from sources other than corn.

"What we'll do is roll back the subsidies to Big Oil and use the resources to invest in a reserve for research in alternative energy," Pelosi, a California Democrat, recently told reporters.

Wasn't there a politician in California that tried to make political hay by attacking energy producers, only to have it backfire? Yeah, his name is Grey Davis and the citizens of California booted him out of office for his stupidity. Shh, don't tell Pelosi, she may think she came up with the idea.

Another thing to note is that when politicians claim they're taking money form "Big Oil" and using it for alternative energy research, here's' what they're really doing: Making themselves look good, while allowing "Big Oil" to maintain its stranglehold of America's energy needs. Who in the world do you think these politicians hand over that money to, to do the research? The exact same "Big Oil" companies they just took it from. It's the same scam they work with minimum wage. Do nothing, while pretending to do something and get votes. Why else would we still have such a huge dependence on oil after decades upon decades of whining that we're too dependant on oil?

Oh, but it gets better...

The Interior Department has been trying to get more than 50 companies to rework 1998-99 drilling leases that allow the companies to avoid paying billions of dollars in royalties because of a government mistake in writing the leases. Recently five companies agreed to a compromise to pay royalties on future production under the leases, but not from oil and gas already taken from the federal waters.

Most of the other companies argue that the leases represent a binding contract and have not even talked to Interior officials about them.

Now, who was in office in 98-99? Hmm, what's his name? Wasn't that during the CLINTON Administration? So Clinton "accidentally" gave the oil companies leases that allowed them to make billions from using government land, while giving the government (the people) little in return. Didn't Clinton get some heavy financing from several large oil companies? Why I'm sure that's just a mere coincidence. Bill Clinton wouldn't betray the American people for is own personal gain, would he? Well, at least it's not like he sold nuclear secrets or anything, right?
