A Panoramic Scuttlebutt of Bush's Surge
Now let's see historians try to decipher that headline, heh, heh, heh.
Quick intro: Bush wants Iraq to be a victory, not a defeat. Therefore he's sending 20,000 more soldiers over their to whoop addition terrorist butt. Democrats don't want Iraq to end in victory, because that leaves them weak politically, and what's the lives and safety of millions of innocent Iraqis compared to the political ambitions of Liberal Democrats, please! Now, armed with the basic info, let's see who's saying what...
Teddy "Chappaquiddick" Kennedy: "In Vietnam, the White House grew increasingly obsessed with victory, and increasingly divorced from the will of the people and any rational policy...There was no military solution to that war. But we kept trying to find one anyway. In the end, 58,000 Americans died in the search for it...Echoes of that disaster are all around us today. Iraq is George Bush’s Vietnam."
We lost Vietnam because of morons likes bubble-head Teddy who insisted on micromanaging the war from their cushy beltway offices, rather than letting the military do their job.
Joe Biden: "If you really want to change the situation on the ground, demonstrate to the president he’s on his own. That will spark real change."
Yeah, Joe, that'll change the situation on the ground by reddening it with the blood of soldiers who'll die to "prove" your juvenile point.
Harry Reid: "We believe that there is a number of Republicans who will join with us to say no to escalation. I really believe that if we can come up with a bipartisan approach to this escalation, we will do more to change the direction of that war in Iraq than any other thing that we can do."
Yeah, the Dims can always count on a few RINOs in the herd. But really, do these guys actually think Americans will rally behind the "Let's Run Screaming From the Battle Like Scared, Little Girls!" bandwagon?
John Warner: (RINO from Virginia) "I’m particularly concerned about the greater injection of our troops into the middle of sectarian violence. Whom do you shoot at, the Sunni or the Shia? Our American G.I.’s should not be subjected to that type of risk."
Fortunately our soldiers aren't as stupid as many of our politicians are. You shoot at who's shooting at you. Pretty simple concept. Even in what Warner imagines as a "sticky" situation, US troops facing opposing Moslem sects bent on killing each other. Our troops know how to handle that. "Okay, boys, stop shooting or win an immediate, all-expense-paid trip to meet 'Allah' face to face. Any volunteers?"
Mitch McConnell: "You can’t run a war by a committee of 435 in the House and 100 in the Senate"
At last, someone with a brain.
