The DNC, taxes and chapped lips

House Minority Leader John Boehner offered a motion that would have prevented the House from waiving the rule that required a super-majority of three-fifths of the House to raise taxes. Democrats voted it down, unanimously, opening the door for tax increases in the foreseeable future.

It's all a chess game, isn't it? Maneuver the pieces into the right position in such a way that the opponent won't guess what you're doing, then strike.

Quite a few democrats ran on the promise that they wouldn't raise taxes, yet are quick to lay the framework for tax hikes. Of course the Democrats complained that Boehner's motion would have "tied their hands". Like, duh! Their hands need to be tied. Heck, gag 'em while your at it.

Y'know what happens when you raise taxes on big businesses? The businesses raise prices to pay for the taxes. Y'know what happens when prices go up? Consumers have less income to spend, so the economy suffers? Y'know what happens when spending goes down? Taxable revenues diminishes, which obviously means less tax revenues. You cannot raise tax revenues by raising taxes on big business, and the Democrats know that, but they know that raising taxes on Big Business is a great PR ploy to appeal to Joe Schmuck who knows nothing about the economy and has been fed so much class-envy crap that he's simply overjoyed anytime anyone with any bit more than him loses something. I call that the Chapped Lips Syndrome. Here's how it works...

Your lips are chapped and licking them makes them feel better for a short time, but makes them worse in the long run. Stopping the licking will allow them to heal, but involves an extended time of discomfort. The mature person endures the discomfort in order to end the problem. The immature person keeps licking his lips.

Attacking the wealthy feels good in a myopic, class-envy, immature way, but makes the economy suffer. If the economy suffers, those with less will inevitably suffer more. A mature, intelligent society will encourage business (within reasonable restrictions) and solve the problem. The immature society will continue to attack the rich and make the economy continue to slide downhill.

Thus the Chapped Lips Syndrome.

I'm reminded of a joke I heard sometime back...

A cowboy dusty, exhausted, weather-beaten slowly rode into town. He slumped in the saddle and clouds of dust rose of him and his horse with ever step. He stopped in front of the saloon, slid down from the horse, gave his horse a drink then tied it to the rail. An old man sitting on a keg outside the saloon watched with interest as the cowboy then went to the backside of the horse, raised the horse's tail and planted a big kiss right smack dab on the horse's anus. Shocked, the old man called out to the cowboy as he slowly made his way into the saloon.

"Hey, young feller," drawled the old man, "What'n the world you go and kiss yer horse on its behind for?!?"

Looking at him with tired eyes the cowboy mumbled, "Chapped lips."

"Chapped lips!" the old man said, "And that clears it up?!?"

"Nah," said the cowboy, "It jes keep me from lickin' 'em."

Now if you're wondering what neglecting our economy would have to do with a horse's behind, then you've obviously forgotten the 1992 Presidential election.

Ah, but your post is based on one assumption that is incorrect -- that the Democrats actually have any desire to improve the economy!

You're correct that they know how raising taxes on big business will affect the economy and people. But making people worse off is actually what they desire! You see, the more people they can claim are worse off, the more victims they have, and therefore, the more purpose they have. If there were no victims, the Democrats would have no purpose at all and no constituency.

I never assumed they wanted a better economy, and never said it. I know their prime motive is simply power, and conning the less intelligent is their main tool in doing so. Keeping the economy in turmoil is one method, but fostering cass envy, then attacking the wealthy is actually too that provides more immediate results.

That's a good one. I just wish it wasn't true. Is this why they need to get of God? (Do not covet thy neighbor...)
