Foul-mouthed Lib bloggers "resigns" from Edwards campaign

After gloating over media stories reporting her firing, Amanda Marcotte ahs now announced that she has quit the Edwards campaign.

I'm very familiar with these "resignations" that come amidst political scandal. I was once fired from a job after being used as a convenient scapegoat for a supervisor's misconduct. My firing, of course, was call a "mutual decision", which I quickly corrected. It looks better if the person quits rather than being fired, because it allows the boss to maintain a sympathetic appearance, while continuing a pretense of victimization on behalf of the fired. I had no desire to play political games then, but apparently Marcotte is willing to. But then it really wasn't Edwards fault (maybe carelessness, but not intentional) that her offensive writing was made even more public than it already was. In the end the pretense of her resigning serves to keep Edwards from looking as foolish, and still allows Marcotte to claim to be the victim.

I don't seem to recall the Liberals being all that sympathetic when Ben Domenech resigned from the Washington Post over stuff he did as a high school student. I'd say the Libs made their bed and are whining about having to sleep in it.
