Some things I wonder about

Why do we, as Americans, celebrate our freedom by shooting off fireworks made by slaves in Communist China?

Why does Jack Bauer never have to use the bathroom, even after disarming a nuclear bomb seconds before it is set to explode? If it were me disarming it, "evacuation" would take on a whole new meaning.

Why do we "honor" Martin Luther King, a man who lived and died to end segregation, by holding those celebrations in the segregated sections of our cities and towns?

Why are there seagulls in every Wal-Mart parking lot?

Why do so many rich journalists oppose capitalism—a system known for protecting freedom of speech, yet support socialism—a system not only known for suppressing freedom of speech, but for taking money away from rich people to give to others? Why don't they simply shut up and send their money to me?

Why do Liberals want things to stay the way they are, while Conservative fight for change? In other words, why are Progressives so afraid of progress?

Why after serving two terms in the House of Representatives and eight years in the Senate, Dan Quayle was considered "unqualified" to serve as Vice-President by much of the Media Elite, yet after serving only two years in the Senate, Barack Obama's qualifications are never questioned by those same Media Elite?

If when I assemble a jigsaw puzzle of the Mona Lisa, I can't then claim I painted the Mona Lisa, why do companies buy parts from overseas, pay Americans to put the parts together, and then claim it was "Made in America"?

Why are Bill Maher, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert allowed to say as reprehensible and as outrageous stuff as they want, but Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh are almost daily excoriated for stuff nowhere near as offensive?

Seriously, why are there seagulls in every Wal-Mart parking lot?

Does Hilary really not know how incredibly annoying her voice is?

Since we don't enforce current immigration laws, what good is a new one supposed to do?

Why is it that Canadians get annoyed when they're called Americans, but Mexicans get annoyed when they aren't?

With all the money they are apparently making on the internet, why haven't these Nigerians straightened out their economy yet?

Why is it we think Paris Hilton is shallow, when most of the nation spent the past few weeks obsessed with making fun of her for being in jail?

In other words, why is a screamingly obvious double standard allowed??!!

"Why are Bill Maher, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert allowed to say as reprehensible and as outrageous stuff as they want, but Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh are almost daily excoriated for stuff nowhere near as offensive?"

UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH . . . Because they're PROFESSIONAL COMEDIANS and Limbaugh and the Coultergeist are supposed to be real pundits? And you forgot O'Lielly, who takes the cake when it comes to meanspirited, inflammatory and inaccurate bile. At least Jon Stewart is FUNNY.

Oh, one more thing: The McDonalds garbage explains the seagulls. They love french fries. Actually, they love it all. Feel better now?

Real pundits, eh? Do you need a license or professional certification? Pay much? I'm thinking I want to be a "real pundit".

Jon Stewart is about as funny as a chimpanzee. His audiences are dumb enough to laugh, fueling his ego.

I remember when Mike Myers and Dana Carvey on a Wayne's World skit more or less called Chelsea Clitnon, ugly. A few days later Rush Limbaugh tried to point out the double standard, because had a conservative make such comments there would have been a screaming outrqage. And he was right. For weeks the media then claimed that Rush, not Myers and Carvey has called Chelsea ugly.

Not only did he never say it, the media and their fellow screamers never batted an eye when Myers and Carvey did it.

Ann Coulter was making the exact same point, and the hypocritical screamers are doing the same idiotic act again.

Very interesting questions. I can answer but a few.

MLK was only permitted to be those parts of town, which is one the things he was fighting to change.

Seagulls are anywhere that people leave crumbs. Are there any places to eat in or near Walmarts?

I do not use any fireworks. I do NOT support slavery on one side, and on the other side of my mouth profess something else. Unfortunately, I had to get this computer from China, because we have stopped making them.

When you're talking about Stalinists, that alone should answer your question. Only the people with the power are aloud to be corrupt!

As far as illegal alien amnesty, they are having another cloture vote in the morning, Thursday, June 28, 2007. That's tomorrow in case some did not understand. YOU CAN STILL STOP THIS! CALL TOLL FREE 1-866-340-9281!

Oops. I meant, "they are probably..." Sheesh!

Danny, once again: You're comparing comedy to political punditry. There is a huge difference between

a) taking trash about other people or stereotyping; and
b) making fun of stereotypes, conventional wisdom, or other people's flawed perceptions.

Parody is comedy, and totally OK. Mean spirited character assassination is not.

Easy. It was clear from the getgo that, much like GW Bush, spoiled rich whiteboy Dan Quayle had the IQ of a sponge despite his privileged upbringing, his family's money, his connections, his education . . . etcetera ad nauseum. Don't ask me how GW got to be president with even fewer qualifications. It still boggles my mind.

Barack is a rags-to-riches phenomenon, plus he's incredibly inspirational when he speaks, so folks (elite or not, and not just the media) presume he's got the chops. Unlike Quayle, Barack doesn't give us this feeling of cognitive dissonance or this sneaking suspicion that his cranium might actually be full of cotton balls.
