Kavanaugh To The Court

Last night, President Trump rolled out his second Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh. The rollout was as impressive and effective as the Gorsuch announcement.

Giving America the chance to see Brett Kavanaugh with his family and hear from him directly about the proper role of a judge was incredibly effective.  What people saw last night was someone who not only has the right temperament for a judge, but someone they would be happy to have as a neighbor.

In stark contrast to that scene in the White House East Room was the vitriol that was on full display during a left-wing protest in front of the Supreme Court. Check out this video.  Fox News reporter Shannon Bream left the area due to threats from the crowd.  She later tweeted:

“Very few times I’ve felt threatened while out in the field. The mood here tonight is very volatile. . . Literally had to bail on our live show from #SCOTUS.  Moving the show back to the safety of the studio.”

I not only watched the White House rollout, but I also watched other networks to get the mood of the left.  It is hard to describe the insanity that has gripped the so-called “progressive movement.”

One day they are harassing government officials in restaurants.  The next day they are attacking teenagers with MAGA hats.  The following day they are raging at the Supreme Court.

Comparisons to Nazis have been made too flippantly in the past.  And, of course, the left is describing anything remotely conservative as “fascist,” which is absurd.  But what we are seeing on the left, and especially at that rally last night, is the sound and conduct of fascism.

Here’s something to keep in mind.  Ruth Bader Ginsburg is the most left-wing justice on the Supreme Court.  When Bill Clinton nominated her, everyone knew she was going to be a far-left activist.  After all, she had been an ACLU lawyer.

Yet she was confirmed 96 to 3.  Republicans who voted for her were trying to preserve civility in politics.  Obviously, it hasn’t worked.  President Trump invited several Democrat senators to last night’s White House ceremony.  They all refused to attend.  So much for civility.

The Fight Ahead

A coalition of conservative, pro-life, pro-family organizations will be fighting to secure Kavanaugh’s confirmation.  Many of us remember what the left did to Robert Bork.  I am proud of the role I played in preventing the borking of Clarence Thomas.

In the days ahead, conservative groups will issue talking points and opinion pieces addressing Kavanaugh’s judicial philosophy and the nuances of his many rulings.  For example, it should reassure conservatives that Kavanaugh considered Justice Antonin Scalia to be “a hero and role model.”

But right now various progressive organizations are going through his high school yearbook looking for an off-color joke.  They are searching for ex-girlfriends who might accuse him of lewd behavior.  They are getting names of former neighbors and digging up any dirt they can find.

The fear-mongering and scare tactics are already out of control.  For example, the Women’s March, which botched its press release, condemned Kavanaugh’s nomination as “a death sentence for thousands of women.”

We will do all the normal things that are done to help confirm nominees.  But it is extremely important that we are all praying for Judge Kavanaugh, his wife, Ashley, and their two daughters, Margaret and Liza.  I hope they can shield themselves from the left’s ugliness.

I know you will be heartened to hear that last night Vice President Pence had some time with Judge Kavanaugh and members of the late Justice Antonin Scalia’s family.  They prayed together about the challenging days ahead, which is exactly what we all need to do as we work to get him confirmed.

All About Abortion

Abortion is back in the news because the left is afraid Trump’s appointment might chip away at Roe v. Wade.  What ought to be making news is just how extreme the left has become on abortion.

Bill Clinton used to say that abortion should be “safe, legal and rare.”  But in recent years, Planned Parenthood started urging people to say how proud they are about their abortions.  It has marred Mother’s Day by promoting abortion.

The left doesn’t want abortion to be rare.  It wants taxpayers to pay for abortions!

Comedian Michelle Wolf celebrated America’s independence last week by declaring, “God bless abortion and God bless America!”

Sorry, Ms. Wolfe, but God does not bless abortion.  He was clear about that when He said, “I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses.  Now choose life so that you and your children may live.”

The American people do not share the left’s enthusiasm for abortion.  A recentGallup poll found that only 29% of the public supports abortion on demand.

The left wants judges who will force a radical agenda on the American people.  In contrast, conservatives want judges who will follow the Constitution and respect the will of the people.

President Trump summed up that view when he said this during his weekly radio address:

“In choosing Justice Kennedy’s replacement, my greatest responsibility is to select a justice who will faithfully interpret the Constitution as written.  Judges are not supposed to re-write the law, re-invent the Constitution, or substitute their own opinions for the will of the people expressed through their laws.”

Tonight’s The Night

President Trump will announce his Supreme Court nominee tonight at 9:00 PM.  The main contenders are believed to be Judges Amy Coney Barrett, Thomas Hardiman, Brett Kavanaugh and Raymond Kethledge.  Senator Mike Lee of Utah is still in the running as a dark horse candidate.

The left is in a complete meltdown over the possibility that Trump may select Barrett.  MSNBC host Rachel Maddow suggested that a Barrett nomination would be a “pull the fire alarm moment.”

Really?  The left has been “pulling the fire alarm” twice a day for the past 18 months.

Every time Trump does anything significant — withdrawing from the Paris climate accord or the Iranian nuclear deal, or negotiating with North Korea — the left freaks out.

Don’t think this mass hysteria is only because of Donald Trump.

Democrats gave the English language a new word — to “Bork” someone — because of their outrageous smears against conservative judges.  Ted Kennedy and his liberal Senate colleagues savaged Robert Bork during his confirmation hearing 31 years ago.

They tried to smear Clarence Thomas too.  But he fought back and accused Senate liberals of “a high-tech lynching.”  Now they are smearing Judge Barrett, and attempting to impose an unconstitutional religious test because of her deeply held faith.

But at the end of the day, I suspect it does not matter who Trump selects.  Protests against the nominee have already been planned!

Democrats will bitterly oppose any reasonable conservative because control of the Supreme Court hangs in the balance.  And the court has been the ace up the left’s sleeve for decades.

Whenever the left loses a policy debate in the public square or at the ballot box, it rushes to the courts to impose its views on the public.  That’s what the left did on school prayer, on abortion and on the redefinition of marriage.

This is a big moment, my friends.  One more conservative on the Supreme Court would make a huge difference.  I would not expect to win every major case, but we certainly would win many more.  And that would be a big step toward getting us back to the kind of government our founders envisioned.

Why the “Gini” index is a complete fraud…

The “Gini” index (or sometimes called the Gini Coefficient) was create over 100 years ago by Corrado Gini, Mussolini’s “economist” who was a eugenicist (like Hitler and Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger, firmly believed in killing undesirable races to “improve” humanity) and even wrote in praise of Fascism (what Fascism was then, not the imaginary kind Liberal morons refer to today, it was real, and it was bad). He was obviously a sick man who thought little of humanity, let alone individual rights, therefore Democrats absolutely love him and his work.

How the “Gini” index works is the top 10%  wealthiest of a country’s population is compared to the bottom 10% poorest. This conveniently ignores the overall wealth of the citizens and compares only the most productive with the least productive. In practice today, any socialist nation who’s “Gini” index starts looking bad, is omitted from the total results, thereby making socialist countries, as a whole, look more prosperous than Capitalist nations. For example let’s compare the United States, a thriving economy where the poverty level (the income level at which one is considered “impoverished”) is actually higher than the median global income level—with Venezuela, a nation rich in natural resources, yet whose population are destitute, famished and dying due to socialism. In 2013 America’s “World Back Gini Index” was 41.0, however Venezuela’s WBGI has not been recorded since 2006, and at that time was 46.9. With numbers ranging from 25 (Ukraine) to 63 (South Africa), this places both the U.S. and Venezuela close together in the middle.

This farce is used routinely by the UN as well as Socialist hell-holes to claim the American government is causing America’s poor to suffer and condemn Capitalism while praising Socialism.

When someone uses it to try to prove how “terrible” America is, refer to the information in this article to set the record straight. It won’t convince my moron who is using stats to confirm his or her bias, but will leave any honest readers better informed as to the ruse perpetrated by this hoax.

Celebrating Independence Day

Independence Day is one of my favorite holidays — celebrating patriotism, our history and the tremendous courage, faith and sacrifices of our Founding Fathers. As the 242nd birthday of America dawns tomorrow, millions will get together with friends and family for backyard barbeques, games and fireworks.

By all means, enjoy the day!  Celebrate America and our freedoms!

But please take a moment to remind your children and grandchildren about America’s exceptionalism and the significance of Independence Day.

Remind them about the sacrifices at Bunker Hill and Concord Bridge that were necessary to create this nation and secure our freedoms. Tell them about the courage of George Washington crossing the Delaware River on Christmas night.

Most importantly, tell them about America’s “mission statement.” It can be found in the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. . .”

Those were radical ideas in 1776 and they are still radical concepts in many parts of the world today.  Even here in 21st century America it seems we are struggling with the concept of “truth” and the notion that our rights come from God, not government.

This July 4th we have much to celebrate.  We have stopped (for now) the left’s fundamental transformation of America.  Our economy is growing again.  Businesses are hiring again.  We have confidence again.

We are winning the war against radical Islamic terrorism.  And America is once again leading on the world stage.

But the future of our liberty depends on whether folks like you and me can, in the weeks and months ahead, muster the courage to overcome the left’s “resistance.”  We must preserve the nation our Founding Fathers created, a nation our first Republican president, Abraham Lincoln, described as the “last best hope of Earth.”

In closing, I would like to offer a brief note of encouragement to our pastors, who are on the front lines of the culture war.

John Peter Gabriel Muhlenberg is a lesser-known hero of the War for Independence. He was a pastor and a member of the Virginia House of Burgesses.

In 1775, he preached a sermon on Ecclesiastes 3:1 — “For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven.” Pastor Muhlenberg closed his sermon with these words:

“In the language of Holy Writ, there is a time for all things. There is a time to preach and a time to fight. And now is the time to fight.”

He then removed his clerical robes and revealed to the congregation that he was dressed in the uniform of a Continental Army officer.

Pastor Muhlenberg’s example of a man of God fighting for our God-given rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness should give increased fervor and devotion to those who lead us in the fight for faith, family and freedom.

Men and women of faith won important victories at the Supreme Court recently, but the battle for our First Amendment freedoms, especially religious freedom, is far from over.

Like few times in our nation’s history, this is a time to fight for the values we cherish.

Illegal Alien “Facts” that Liberals dismiss out-of-hand as untrue, without ever bothering to actually research them…

#1 Seems implausible, however Food Stamps for illegals is a serious problem and Obama actively recruited illegals to sign up for these programs, meaning while a bit exaggerated, the point is very valid. Source: Judicial Watch

#2. “In Los Angeles, 95 percent of all outstanding warrants for homicide (which total 1,200 to 1,500) target illegal aliens. Up to two-thirds of all fugitive felony warrants (17,000) are for illegal aliens.”—from The City Journal. And in case you think the City Journal is some fly-by-night, right-wing, fake-news rag—City Journal is the nation’s premier urban-policy magazine, “the Bible of the new urbanism,” as London’s Daily Telegraph puts it. During the Giuliani Administration, the magazine served as an idea factory as the then-mayor revivified New York City, quickly becoming, in the words of the New York Post, “the place where Rudy gets his ideas.” The Public Interest went further, calling City Journal “the magazine that saved the city.”

#3 seems to be derived from a 2007 New York Times article by Daniel Altman, which attempts to “dispel the myths” of illegals being low-paid, uneducated, laborers.

Conservatism Wins

What a week it’s been for the conservative movement! As the Fourth of July approaches and Americans look forward to celebrating our freedom under God, we have more reason than ever to celebrate and to hope.

Once again Americans feel free to assert a confident patriotism. The world isn’t free of conflict, but the level of violence in many parts of the world is down and talks are underwaybetween global powers and regional rivals. Our nation is once again standing up for American workers and challenging trade barriers. Reports are surfacing that U.S. growth may exceed 4 percent for the second quarter and 3 percent for the year. A level of growth they said we’d never see again.

Now, we know there are plenty of people who see nothing but doom in these developments. Ronald Reagan called these folks “doomsayers,” by which he generally meant “liberals.” As harsh as his critics were then, I have to say today’s brand is worse. Not only do they see disaster around every corner, but they offer intimidation and threats, the whiff of violence, to get their way. Last night, Michael Moore, the paunchy video maker, went on the Stephen Colbert show to urge his fellow liberals to “put our bodies on the line to stop Trump.”

Rhetoric like this does no one any good. It’s radically out of tune with reality. But this is a good time for some other critics of the current Administration to pause and reflect. Two years ago at this time, after Donald Trump had won the most hotly contested GOP presidential primary ever, including many people I respect, the NeverTrump crowd, dug into oppose him.

The past week shows the price we would have paid had their campaign succeeded.  In one short week, the Supreme Court upheld the Constitution and handed down three rulings, touching all three segments of conservatism. The Court, by single votes, affirmed the President’s power to protect our borders from terrorist incursions, the right of government employees not to be forced to join unions, and the free speech rights of pro-life pregnancy centers.

On national security, economic liberty, and social policy, the court stood with American values.  Now imagine how radically different this week would have been if Hillary Rodham Clinton had won.  No Neil Gorsuch. Each ruling going the other way.

This dramatic week would have ended with Anthony Kennedy stepping down. The Supreme Court would have been lost for the next 25 years. But it’s worse than that. The vision of life, liberty, and family we love would have been lost, likely irretrievably. It’s time for the President’s “house critics” to offer some mea culpas and give Donald Trump his due.

Face Of The Future?

Political observers are still dissecting the results of Tuesday’s startling upset victory by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the Democratic primary for New York’s 14th Congressional District against incumbent Joe Crowley.

The media have showered her with glowing coverage.  The New York Times editorial board declared, “Ms. Ocasio-Cortez’s victory is a vivid sign of the changing of the guard.”

But what they aren’t telling you is that some disturbing trends were key to her success.
For example, there were not so-subtle racial undertones to her campaign.

Even the Washington Post picked up on the fact her campaign slogan — “It’s time for one of us” — was “an appeal to the tribal identities of class, age, gender and ethnicity.”  In other words, white men like Joe Crowley shouldn’t be representing “us.”

As we noted before, Ocasio-Cortez is a proud member of the Democratic Socialists of America.  Not that long ago, she would have been mocked as a communist.

She ran on a platform of “cleaning up the mess in Washington.”  But that doesn’t mean what you and I think it means.  She’s an avowed socialist.  She wants to make Washington even more powerful.  She wants big government to be even bigger.  That will make the mess even worse!

Moreover, the Democratic Socialists of America is a fringe group that has formally embraced the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel.

When Hamas launched attacks against Israel along the Gaza border, Ocasio-Cortez accused Israel of mass murder.  She tweeted a story from Al Jazeera, writing:

“This is a massacre. . .  There is no justification. Palestinian people deserve basic human dignity, as anyone else. Democrats can’t be silent about this anymore.”

In an interview, Ocasio-Cortez suggested that her Puerto Rican heritage led her to sympathize with the Palestinians.  That’s strange since Israel was among the first nations to send aid to the island after Hurricane Maria.

Sadly, it seems that opposition to Israel is becoming a dog whistle for progressive candidates to signal their bona fides to far-left activists.

For some time now, political observers have nervously watched as anti-Semitism has spread within the progressive movement — at gay pride events, in the Black Lives Matter movement and the Women’s March.

And it was evident in Ms. Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign.  Thomas Lopez-Pierre was one of her biggest cheerleaders.  He volunteered for her campaign and passed out a thousand fliers.  But he is also known for a previous city council campaign in which he denounced “greedy Jewish landlords.”

Democrats often say that the Republican Party has become so extreme that Ronald Reagan could not win a primary today.  Well, as usual, they are completely wrong.

The Democrat Party has become so extreme that Bill Clinton could not win his party’s nomination today.  If Ms. Ocasio-Cortez is the face of the Democrat Party’s future, then the party of Harry Truman and JFK is dead.

Left-wing Hypocrisy

Conservative commentator Molly Hemmingway made an observation that is worth repeating.

Yesterday morning, the left was still in full-throated outrage over the children who were “ripped away from their parents” at the border.  Around 2:30 yesterday afternoon, the news broke that Anthony Kennedy was resigning, giving President Trump the chance to nominate a second constitutionalist to the high court.

Immediately, the same liberals who were crying about children being ripped from their mothers were screaming about the right to rip babies from their mothers’ wombs.  I don’t think any of them paused to consider the stark contradiction of those statements.

By the way, these same leftists who are demanding that women be allowed to illegally enter the country with their children are also demanding that pregnant women who do come into the country illegally be allowed to abort their children at taxpayer expense.

The radical Women’s March movement is calling for a day of unrest and “mass civil disobedience” in Washington, D.C., today.  At least 1,000 women have reportedly vowed to risk arrest.  Among their many demands, the Women’s March is joining the left’s call to abolish ICE.

Let’s be clear about what that means: These radicals are demanding that we let thousands of criminals roam our streets.

According to a recent study by the Pew Research Center, “Immigrants with past criminal convictions accounted for 74% of all arrests made by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in fiscal 2017.”  We’re talking more than 100,000 illegal immigrants with DUIs, drug charges, sexual assaults and even homicides.
